Featured Track - No One is Born to Be Lonely
Dead Child Star - Cold Hands, Warm Hearts
This makes me love Stars even more. Torquil Campbell is a great front man, and he may be one of my favorites. I was discussing this with a friend of mine and we both agree that the theatrics that are displayed during a Stars concert is part of the showmanship that makes that band so great. No gimmicks or anything, just pure show.
Torquil is busy, first the release of a new album from Memphis and now this.
Featured Track - Steady Hand
The Forms - Derealization
The Forms have been a favorite of mine for a while now. This newest EP is pretty much a rehash of older songs from their previous S/T album. Steady Hand has guest vocalist Andrew Thiboldeaux from Pattern is Movement.
Featured Track - Water in My Hands
Malory - Pearl Diver
German shoegaze act Malory with a serious flavor. Great use of electronic drums as well here. Most of the songs also split vocals with female band member Daniela Neuhaeuser. Her vox really gives the band a nice dream pop vibe.
Featured Track - It Couldn’t Be Perceived
Violens - Amoral
Holy cow, new wave is back. Well actually with all the resurgence of new wavers I can’t say it is officially back. Maybe it took a break in the 90’s. Violens could become one of those bands that I start to recommend to everyone. Members of Lansing-Dreiden are in this band. I love that band as well.
Featured Track - Hospice Gates
Lower Dens - Twin-Hand Movement
This band has me interested. If you’re a fan of Beach House, you may begin to dig this and the band’s tendencies to go a bit more folk and a bit more dirty garage. Give it a listen.
Featured Track - The Skeleton Collection
800beloved - Bouquet
This album made it on my top 2009 collection of album of the year. There’s nothing that I don’t like about this record. The production is perfect and I love all the guitar layering. Truly one of those records that will slip through many peoples radar and they will come back and wonder how. Support it.
Featured Track - Blue
Broken Little Sister - Memories, Violet & Demons
Very excited about this band. This is Japan’s answer to M83. Their mixture of dream pop and shoegaze really hits on all cylinders for me. Put them on top of my list for best new bands to discover.

Serena-Maneesh - S-M 2: Abyss in B Minor
Released through Britain’s Indie label 4AD, this label puts out some serious artists. Bon Iver, Efterklang, Camera Obscura, Iron and Wine, The National…just to name a few. Serena-Maneesh can be added to this list. This album so far is a wonderful mess. It features so many crazy sounds and textures. Brother and sister duo is dynamite as well.
Can’t wait for this album to drop!
